SARDINIAN LIQUORS - SILVIO CARTA, ZEDDIANI

At the beginning of the '50s Silvio Carta founded the eponymous company - which is now one of the most prestigious and most active in Sardinia - and started vinification and refining of Vernaccia, a wine that has a noble tradition and is an authentic jewel of the Sardinian oenology, subsequently acquiring a leading position in the Sardinian marketplace in just a few short years. After a couple more years, the company had conquered the hearts of the public beyond regional borders thanks to a broad range of excellent quality products in the field of liquors and spirits.

Since then, tradition and innovation have gone hand in hand to guarantee quality and goodness. The philosophy that governs Silvio Carta productions is expressed in the famous slogan 'Armonia della natura' ('Harmony in nature'), a cornerstone of the company's philosophy. This simple phrase summarises the working method of the Carta family: always respect the environment. An achievement the Silvio Carta company is understandably very proud of. In line with the logic of eco-friendly productions, the company introduced technological innovations that allow to achieve maximum energy savings, renewable energy production and waste recovery for biomass production.

The Silvio Carta company can be classified as GREEN and in harmony with nature.

LIMONELLO

Limoncello at its best. A glorification of taste, scents and colours of the Sardinian lemons. Intense, lively and pleasant both straight over ice and at room temperature combined with tonic water and champagne.

Limonello is versatile and fresh, ideal for an aperitif or as a digestive.

TASTING NOTES : Colour : Yellow with green reflections. Bouquet : Intense. It recalls the raw material. Taste : Typical of the Mediterranean lemon.

Intense yellow, the scent of a land dried by the scorching sun; ripe, bold and luxuriant fruits that colour the countryside. The lemons of Sardinia are the soul of Limonello – one of the leading liqueurs of the Silvio Carta company – strongly desired and made by Elio to celebrate thirty years of liqueur production such as Mirto and Limoncino. Excellent as an aperitif or as a digestive, it should be served chilled and we recommend keeping it in the freezer.

ASPIDE - SARDINIAN SPRITZ

The enhanced SPRITZ experience and more!

TASTING NOTES : Colour : An intense and bright strawberry-juice colour. Bouquet : The nose gives off citrus groves and Mediterranean scrub together with smooth cinnamon. Very light touches of resin and pine nuts. Taste : Lively, tantalising and enthralling, with a subtle bitter note and an unmistakable savoury hint. There is a prolonged aftertaste of blood orange and zest.

Aspide Spritz shows that borders don’t exist. On the one hand, it recalls the aperitif used in the famous Venetian cocktail loved worldwide, yet on the other, its whorls enclose the scents and flavours of Sardinia, which it conveys to the nose and palate, where they open up in an enveloping and original manner.

For those who don’t like mixing, it is also simply perfect served neat, in a large glass with plenty of ice and some orange peel, which goes well with the citrus hints naturally present in Aspide.

BITTER ROMA

The classic Bitter.

TASTING NOTES : Colour : Ruby red colour. Bouquet : Enveloping, recalling bunches of aromatic herbs. Rosemary, thyme, santolina, sage and eucalyptus vie for attention, accompanied by orange peel, tamarind and cloves. An explosive product which stands out in the bitters market. Wrapped in an artistic label with clear Futurist references, these Silvio Carta bitters contain a thousand scents of Sardinia and Mediterranean scrub.

Versatile and democratic in combinations, the citrus finish and predominant bitter note make it perfect for mixing. For example, to create an all-Sardinian Negroni. Simply perfect for an aperitif, neat (or nearly), served with ice, a slice of blood orange and a few drops of Angostura.

MIRTO BIANCO 1929

Mirto Bianco is the soft hug with a scent of myrtle. It’s elegant and enveloping. It’s the union of sweet and sour.

A liqueur that knows how to amaze with its authentic, rich but delicate taste, full of Mediterranean memories. Mirto Bianco is a pleasant summer breeze that smells of Sardinia.

TASTING NOTES : Colour : Clear with green-yellowish tinges. Bouquet :  Intense myrtle essential oil, aromatic herbs of the maquis: thyme, bay leaves, sage, rosemary and mastic. Taste : A classic myrtle hug with an enveloping taste of vegetable notes leading to an extremely delicate ending with a rich Mediterranean aftertaste.

Mirto Bianco is a matter of tradition, talent, passion and imagination. Great intuitions often arise by chance. This was the case for this precious liqueur. One day, much like any other, Silvio Carta’s wife tried to infuse some myrtle leaves left over in the kitchen. She soaked them in the Vernaccia spirit – which had already been produced by the family for some time – keeping the mixture for about 2 months, after which she separated the liquid from the leaves. She then added a syrup made of water and sugar and Mirto Bianco was born.

LIQU LICORICE

Jet-black, spicy and enveloping.

Liqu is the liquorice liqueur of Sardinia, with a unique and seductive taste. An explosion of sensuality with every sip.

TASTING NOTES : Colour : Black. Bouquet : Spicy with very intense sensors of liquorice.. Taste : Decisive.

Spicy, decisive, jet-black and enveloping. Liqu has the charm and the energy of a full moon on a summer night. GRAPPA DI VERNACCIA

It comes from the Vernaccia grape: the pomaces of the queen of Sinis.

A surprisingly soft and delicate grappa, to drink at the end of a meal or as a treat for the palate at the end of the day.

TASTING NOTES : Colour : Amber, resulting from the refining in small barrels of intense and bright chestnut. Bouquet : Notes of chestnut honey and amaretto, butter, coffee and quince jelly. Taste : Intense, powerful and enveloping that goes from a sea perfume to delicate bitter almond.

The Grappa is exclusively obtained from the distillation of pomaces of Sardinian Vernaccia grapes, the result of an accurate processing and a long ageing process in refined Sardinian chestnut barrels, some of which are over 100 years old (used for decades to age the Vernaccia wine).
